My old brother machine(cannot remember the model) is of the low-shank variety. I only had a zig-zag foot, and was interested in finding a blind-hem, rolled hem, 1/4" quilting, and other feet. I spent a good while researching my options, and discovered that individual low-shank feet are becoming increasingly rare and hard to find. Locally, I was able to find one or two feet, but they were each 3 times what this foot(and other similar ones in this product line) cost. Online, I didn't fare any better. I did encounter the ubiquitous "7-in-one" or "11-in-one" kits with adapters that would have probably addressed the same need, but 1) I was leery of quality of the items in those kits, and 2) none were offered via prime, so I decided to go with the individual distinctive feet. The price-point was very reasonable and the fact that they were prime sealed the deal.
Quality-wise, this is easily on par with my OEM foot. Solid, study. The snap-on mechanism releases very easily, feet click into them effortlessly. I also purchased the blind hem and the 1/4" quilting foot at the same time(both also distinctive) and they each work just as well with this adapter.
One thing to take note of...I read a review or two(Distinctive Edge Joining / Stitch in the Ditch Sewing Machine Presser Foot Fits All Low Shank Snap-On Singer*, Brother, Babylock, Euro-Pro, Janome, Kenmore, White, Juki, New Home, Simplicity, Elna and More! for instance) of other feet by this maker that seem to suggest that some OEM snap-in feet might not work correctly with the adapter included here, so if you're buying this foot to get the snap-in adapter, then you may very will be "locking" yourself into the distinctive line of feet. Since I don't have any feet from other brands, I can't confirm that specifically. Plus, since distinctive seems to have all of the snap-in feet that I'm interested in, and prime at that, I personally don't care and don't find it a drawback. If you already have additional snap-in feet, you may want to do a little bit of additional research to confirm that your feet will work with this adapter(if that's your intended purpose).
I'm %100 pleased with this purchase and would definitely buy again.
