I'm going to paste my original review here below for my original purchase of the actual trimmer, which I love-love-love!! The Blade is a replacement part for a fantastic piece of equipment and although I did purchase the blade I've yet to have to replace it after use after use and quite a while.. I'm sure it will last many more months to come before I actually have to replace it.

I'm going to steer off the beaten path here and tell the whole truth and nothing but, honestly, I was a bit perplexed at first how this exactly worked, even a little frustrated, because I am the typical human and do not read directions! You see there is a removable "12 inch cutting mat" which is actually a very thin, maybe a 1/4 inch wide, piece of plastic coated foam type material that is meant to bare the edge of the blade during use and is a consumable item, you can replace it, and I'm sure should.
Anyhow, this piece was somehow out of place in the package and was jammed under the cutting area.. AFTER about half an hour I figured it out and THIS THING IS THE BEST TRIMMER I'VE EVER USED OR EVEN SEEN, the safety features, the consumable "cutting mat", actually does cut through 15 pieces of paper as it says!! works fantastically, would recommend to everyone!
There are replacement blades of course, and the replacement "mats" are called the Swingline SmartCut 12 Inch Replacement Cutting Mat For Lite and Pro Series Trimmers,(9212CMB)
