First, I must pay credit to the shippers of this product. Mine arrived minus a small metal sphere that is at the top of the conductor arms. I contacted them via Amazon.com and they immediately sent me a replacement. The product was very well packed, especially for something with lots of oddly-shaped parts, but it's quite possible that the little sphere came loose in transit and went out with the packaging. Whatever happened, they were very responsive.
The device does what it's supposed to do. It creates static electricity and can make a continuous sequence of small sparks. I've managed to produce ones almost an inch long so far, but it will probably do better when the humidity is lower. If you couple this with a few other early electrical devices, such as an electrometer and a couple of pieces of wire, you can explain exactly what's going on.
I bought the Jumbo version after reading other reviews and I'm glad that I did. Highly recommended. Don't expect to outdo Tesla when it comes to spectacle, but you'll have a lot of fun showing this to the kids and grandkids.
