I got it for my grandson, Elliott, who is almost 26 mo. old; it does say "for ages 3 and up due to small parts," but since he's already been using crayons and pencils and sharpeners with supervision, I thought that it would still be nice for him and he has just loved it. My main caveat: some 2-year-olds might not mind well enough or have the fine motor skills to use these supplies yet, even with supervision. You know your little one best and whether or not they need to wait until age 3 to use this. My grandson has a little of that OCD-type behavior that lots of kids have in certain areas. So he really loves making sure all of the pencils, crayons and markers are back into the case in the right place and even all facing the same way. He's able to take the lids off the markers and put them back on and isn't trying to swallow them, so if you have a little one who still puts things in his mouth a lot, you would want to be very cautious. I esp. liked that the art supplies fit well into their slot and don't fall out easily, but yet they're easy enough for his little fingers and mine to remove them from their respective slots and then replace them when finished.
The case is sturdy and has a handle that he loves to hold when he closes the kit and carries it around. The case divides into 2 pieces and then snaps back together easily--I esp. liked that the basics for a younger child (crayons, colored pencils and markers) are on one side of the case and the things that I'd rather he not mess with yet (watercolors, oil pastels) are on the other side of the case, so it's easy to set that aside and let him play w/ the more age-appropriate supplies. (The eraser, sharpener, paintbrush and sketching pencil are also w/ the supplies for an older child, although I don't see anything he would actually hurt himself on.)
The markers didn't say if they were washable or not, only that they are "long-lasting." They're nice markers and long-lasting enough on paper, but I noticed that when we both got a little marker on our skin, it cleaned off pretty easily. Three swipes w/ a wet wipe got the majority of dried marker off our skin, then washing our hands at the sink w/ soap and water got the rest off. The crayons and colored pencils are also vibrant and have a nice selection; I haven't tried the watercolor paints yet, but they and the oil pastels seem of very good quality. I like that the kit contained the exact supplies listed at Amazon and that it arrived quickly too.
I'm really happy w/ this kit and I think that it's an excellent value for this price.
