I have tried it once and I have to admit I got frustrated with it. I, frankly, can't see it's usefulness. The larger one

that arrived with the machine seems to take care of all my needs. Perhaps I will learn when it could be helpful as

I go along.

This is the first die-cut machine I have ever owned so I am by no means an expert but so far I absolutely adore my Slice Machine!

I am a frugal and practical shopper and I like to do my homework before I invest a chuck of money into something. So when I arrived at a point in my scrapbooking when I realized I would love to have a die-cutter I did some research. All die-cut machines are costly but the electronic ones are outrageously so. The affordable ones seem to have so many drawbacks that they are just not worth it. I looked at the Xyron cutter for a while but it got alot of bad reviews for the cutting mat which wore out too fast and had to be replaced alot. Cricuts and Pazzles are crazy expensive and their designs are costly as well.

Then one day in my research I saw an ad for the Slice. I checked it out and knew this was it. In a nut shell here are its strengths:

-Price. At $150 MSRP it is affordable. I actually got mine brand new on Ebay for $110. The design cards hold 100-150 images and some have 2 to 3 different alphabets and retail for $40 MSRP. Once again, I have found them as low as $27 online.

-Cutting Mat is infinitely reuseable. The Slice comes with a 6X6 glass mat but you can purchase a 12X12 for around $20. You simply paint on a tacky adhesive to keep the paper in place while you cut and wash it off the mat when your done. The adhesive comes with the product and when you run out just buy some more at around $6. One application of adhesive has lasted me 3 sessions of scrabooking and I've cut about 50 things so a little goes a long way.

-Portability. If you are into scrapping away from home you can easily transport it. Its very light weight and compact and they make a carrying case especially for it as well.

-Large screen. Its easy to choose what you need to cut and the menus are so simple a child could use this.

-Fully Self Contained. This product does not need to be hooked to a computer. It is fully rechargeable and a charge lasts for 1 1/2 to 2 hrs of cutting. Plus, if the charge runs out when you are cutting, you can plug the charger back in and continue.

-Range of designs and sizes. The Slice cuts most designs on the design cards from 1/2 inch to 4 inches giving you 8 sizes in most images. Currently there are 8 different design cards available but Making Memories is planning more. They also offer a orginizer bag for the design cards that matched the carrying case.

-It will cut Bazzil and photos and anything thinner than that.

Weaknesses:

-It only cuts up to 4 inches. This is not a problem for me but it could be for some people.

-It will not cut chipboard or anything thick like that. I don't think most cutters do though.

-I honestly cannot think of anymore drawbacks!

I LOVE MY SLICE!!!

Unquestionably the best attachment I've ever bought. Finishes beautifully and effortlessly. Well worth every penny.

Added 11/8/2010 Regarding the self threading function not working with this foot on, so what's stopping anyone from threading the needle BEFORE putting on the side cutter? That's how I do it. And it's still the best attachment I've ever bought. Bob

If you are looking for a quick little machine for quick little jobs, this is for you. If you just need to crank out some straight stitches to hem or secure something simple, this will work perfectly. I sewed up a duvet cover; worked fine.

PROS: Cheap, small, lightweight, easy to set up. Heck, it even comes out of the box already threaded and ready to go with a spool of white thread!

CONS: It's small, and simple. Not much room for a lot of material to the right of the pressure foot of course, and you must take the sewing slow and steady, never pull. Not versatile, no zig zags or other stuff. Just straight, straight stitch.

Overall: Recommended for the most basic of sewing -the straight stitch on broadcloth. Don't expect it to be more than it is; you get good value for your thirty bucks, but it ISN'T "as good as" a full sized sewing machine, of course! Go ahead and get this; it will do your small chores as you spend time figuring out which really cool sewing machine you'll spend serious money on...

Swingline Commercial Electric 3 Hole Punch, 20 Sheet Capacity, 3

Swingline Commercial Electric 3 Hole Punch, 20 Sheet Capacity, 3 Hole, 74525
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

We've had this hole punch at work for over 5 years and just bought another one for a separate office. The old one still works great. I dont think we've ever replaced anything on it. With its sleek 80s design, this hole punch can punch holes through paper unlike any other hand model I've ever seen. Around the 16 pages thickness you can hear the hole punch not punching as neatly as when it punches fewer pages. Plus, I have to hole punch a lot of stapled things, and so I have to separate the stapled stuff in smaller stacks (maybe about 10 pages versus the full 20) because the staples make the stack bigger and it cant fit into the hole punching slot. Price is kind of steep. But four solid stars.

Remember, wait for the sound to stop before you pull the paper out. winkwink.

okay, i think this is my first review of a product ever! but when i was looking around for sewing machines i found it very frustrating that there were not any reviews on some things so i thought that i would do my part =D

first of all, this machine is amazing!! before purchasing this, i was using an older White machine and it was electric...i was always having problems with the bobbin and threading and it not working etc. i have no had one problem since i first started using this machine (about 2 months ago now). i do need to add that this machine sees daily use...we cloth diaper in our family and i have been making an entire stash for my son and my soon to be daughter. this machine can sew through multiple layers of fabric (thick fabric) without a problem!

my favorites:

-no electricity needed for this machine to work

-super easy to thread

-the most amazing bobbin system i have ever used (SO easy)

-very strong, sturdy machine

this machine is mostly metal which is hard to come by now a days...there are some plastic parts but the pieces that matter are metal...i bought an old treadle sewing cabinet off of craigslist for about $40 and this fit into it just fine....i bought a singer sewing cabinet

you will need to purchase a belt separately and they are about $12, you can just google treadle belts and various sites will pop up, they are a standard length and you cut them down to size according to your cabinet and machine.

you wont regret this purchase!!

Oh the hemming is great. Just align the fabric edge with one guide, the fold with the other and shoot it through the machine. I've also found it useful for top stitching a even distance away from the edge. Only one downside, I do make hems wider than the largest allowed and have to occasionally use an alternate method. While this attachment works wonderfully, I would suggest considering the Type II instead. The Type II uses a slightly different procedure and additional guides. It's possible that with the Type II (which I don't have) less preparation may be needed before hemming.

I make jewelry and I typically use flocked necklace cords but found these satin cords on Amazon for a decent price so I thought I'd try them out. These cords are okay. They are pretty but very thin. The cords are made of several small fibers that seperate a bit if the pendant you hang on them slides at all. Also, one or two actually got snagged by a jump ring which makes me nervous, wondering how long they might hold up.

Overall, they get the job done. I will likely use them for children's jewelry only.

I was looking for a paper trimmer that could handle the demands of cutting accurately through several sheets of cardstock without frustration and I found it. I wanted to be able to cut multiple pieces of paper of large and small sizes.

The last reviewer made the comment that you have to take a couple of extra steps. No big deal, In fact this is a positive feature. You lift up a lever to elevate the cutting blade rail and push it back down to lock it into place. That brief extra step locks up to 8 pieces of thick textured cardstock in place without any shifting of the cardstock, and with little effort. This total thickness of the cardstock was 1/8th of an inch. I found that I could cut 4 pieces of thick textured cardstock in one very smooth effortless movement. If I put 8 pieces down it took one push forward and one back and to cut through all of them. Someone with fairly severe arthritis would find all of this easy to do. SO MUCH BETTER than my Fiskars rotary cutter. The magnetic paper guage did a good job of blocking the paper at the length I wanted. I found that I could use it to cut a piece of paper as short as 1 3/4 inch. The trimmer is sturdy and has well defined markings in both english and metric measurements. It also has marked areas for various photo and paper sizes. The trimmer has it's instructions in a picture form right on the platform and has a storage area for extra blades and cutting mats. It comes with an extra cutting blade, perforating blade and cutting mat. I will be giving away 3 paper trimmers and enjoying this one for a very long time. If you are more than a casual scrapbooker this trimmer is for you.

I DO like the longer, smaller tips, but for some reason, the joint mechanism STILL keeps oozing black grease after months of usage. You can get a slightly better angle when doing wrapping, but it's marginal.

It's "flimsy" as in when attempting to turn 22 gauge artistic wire (fairly soft) the jaws flip out of alignment-there's no "torque".

3-IN-ONE Multi-Purpose Oil, 8 oz.

3-IN-ONE Multi-Purpose Oil, 8 oz.
Customer Ratings: 5 stars

3-In-One oil has been such an ever present part of my entire life that it has sort of become invisible. Yesterday I heard a squeak as my wife opened the back door. I have a "thing" about doors that make animal noises, and after listening to the old radio show "The Inner Sanctum," and having the wits scared out of me as a little one, I am touchy about such things, so I immediately went searching for the 3-In-One oil and 2 minutes later the problem was fixed and I suspect it will stay fixed for quite sometime now.

The only human being on the face of this earth who knew less about fixing things was my father. The only tool he could use and the only one he taught me to use was 3-In-One oil. For that I shall forever be grateful. As a small child we always had cans of this stuff around the house and if anything was broken, and I mean anything, it was oiled! My father also kept a can of this stuff in his dental office and used it frequently on his dental tool/machines. The man was an absolutely squirrely about the stuff.

I cannot imagine running a household without this product. I use it on anything where metal hits metal; doors, tools (both hand tools and mechanical), cars, guns, fishing reels, windows, furniture, toys when the kids were little, typewriters (Antiques now, I know, but I still use one), camping gear, garden tools after use to protect them from rust, bicycles, exercise equipment, and on and on. One of the biggest uses I put this oil to use is applying a thing amount to all of my garden tools after I have used and then cleaned them. A good shovel, clippers or rake can last several life times if treated properly.

I much prefer this oil to WD-40 as it lasts so much longer and I personally cannot stand the smell of WD-40 for some reason. About the only thing that oil can be use for that I don't use it for, is sharpening knives and for that I use Smith's Honing Oil. Like another reviewer here, I even take a small can of this stuff with me when we travel as a squeaking hotel room door (and there are many, many of them out there folks), is just as annoying to me as a door in my own home. Don't even get me started on squeaking car doors and squeaks in automobiles in general...

Allow me to point out a couple of things; practices that can get you in trouble when you use this stuff. First, this oil dose not wash out of clothing very well; be careful. Secondly, the biggest problem people have with this product is simply using too much of it to oil what ever it is they are oiling. You simply do not need all that much applied in most cases and all you will get from overuse is a big mess. Thirdly, it must be remembered that many things need CLEANED between oiling or before you apply new oil. A good example of this is bicycle chains. If you keep applying lubricant and never remove the old along with the collected dirt, you are going to wear your chain out rather quickly. The same holds true for guns. Guns need to be cleaned and cleaned often...even if you do not use them all of the time. The old oil needs to be removed from the working parts, the part cleaned, and new oil applied. You can simply ruin your gun by not doing this.

Enough preaching....

This is an excellent product. I have used it all of my life and will continue to do so.

I've worked with those really old, big, and clunky sewing machines when I was about 8-13 years old under my mom's and grandmother's supervision. Now I'm 25, and recently decided I needed a sewing machine of my own. I don't have room for any big machine similar to what I was used to, so I thought a small portable one should do the job for me.

I got a really cheap $30 set from Walgreens, and that stopped working 5 minutes out of the box. Figured I ought to be a little more serious, so I opted to spend more than I really wanted to get this. I am very glad that I did.

I just got it today. The manual is super easy to understand. I'd never threaded a machine on my own before, but there is even a numbered guide right on the machine to tell you where the top thread goes. The guide on the machine plus the very simple instructions in the manual made threading the thing a breeze.

With the foot pedal, it's fairly easy to control the speed. I've read some reviews on similar machines (a Brother one, in particular, that I was also looking at) with complaints of it going from 0 to 100 with nothing in between. Not so with this one.

It's really quiet. It's a little awkward having the top spool horizontal, but it works. It's a little heavier than I expected, but that makes it more sturdy. It has a little storage compartment that's really convenient and a nice way to keep everything in one place. It has a little lever for reverse sewing, which I really like. Comes with a neat little cover that has a slot at the top for the carrying handle.

Overall, it is a very straightforward machine that works great, is simple to use and easy to understand.
