I purchased this cover plate for my Janome Gem Gold 660 to cover the feed dogs to allow me to do free motion quilting on my machine. It is a perfect fit with holes and slots in the correct positions. Now I just upgraded my inexpensive sewing machine to a quilting machine! Seller shipped quickly at a reasonable shipping cost.

The machine pictured is not the latest. The latest version have a blue swirl on the side, also make sure its a new machine and not a refurbished. I have been doing months of research on machines and this one always came out on top. I am not sure but the pic is definitely not the newest edition and the seller says its "factory serviced" meaning that the machine was returned to the factory due to damage received in shipping. BEST BET buy a brand new machine you will not be disappointed, just google this model.

I picked this up for our kids (ages 7 10) and they love it! It's great to see them playing a game that doesn't require batteries, but it recharges their brains and helps with their reading and spelling. You all know the name of the game: guess the word before you are hung out to dry! This gem of a game is all magnetic so the pieces are less likely to get lost. It's perfect for the car, it's perfect for the kitchen table. Take this thing anywhere and let your kids enjoy a simple game that never gets old.
The adults also used this game when the kids went to sleep. I had my girlfriend guessing pharses such as "i love u". It was a ton of fun to play! I don't think I played Hangman in at least a dozen years, so I really enjoyed that this game brought me back to my childhood in many ways.
Now all the kids want their own game. For the price you can't beat it! It's cheap but not cheaply made. It's small enough to travel with but all the pieces are enclosed in the metal case, so it won't cause any problems if it's taken care of properly. I'll be ordering more of these. It's a great game that everyone can enjoy and will make the great presents for those numerous birthday parties our kids get invited to. You wanna hang? Well then, hang with the magnetic Hangman!

I have purchased five of these machines to use with 4th thru 8th grade beginning sewing students. This machine has shown to be sturdy and all around easy to use with kids. I have sewn many different fabrics and used many different stitches with great success. It is very easy to wind a bobbin and thread. Over the last two years, no complaints at all.

I am a first time sewer and I wanted a solid machine below $400. I wanted something I could grow into, but something that wouldn't overwhelm me. I had gone online to research machines. I was actually considering the Brother CS6000I before I had even heard of the Janome 7330. At the time there were 97 reviews on Amazon for the Brother CS6000I and I read every one. I was concerned b/c the low rated Brother reviews and even many of the 4 and 5 star reviews complained about the machine's tension and a finicky bobbin. The last thing I wanted to deal with was a touchy machine. If you read the reviews, without looking at the stars, most of them talk about the machine's quirks. I started to wonder if the Brother was trying to be too far reaching for it's price point. I was also wondering why so many were willing to overlook this touchiness that they all mentioned.
I went to SewVacDirect.com and did an online "ask a consultant" thing. I asked the person about the Brother CS6000I and the person directed me to the Janome. I had never heard of Janome before, but the consultant said that the Janome was far more sturdy than the Brother and that it was very easy to use. Still unsure, I decided to go to a store to see the machines in person.
After seeing the Janome and the Brother in action, I came home with the Janome 7330. After seeing the two machines work, I did feel that the Janome was better made and more sturdy. I felt more confident in the Janome's ability to grow with me through the years and felt it was more of the work horse that I was looking for. Twenty minutes after opening the box I was sewing. I'd never touched a machine before and I was sewing! It was as easy to use as they had told me. No weird finicky tricks to learn; just a solid machine.
The 7330 is computerized. It has a good number of stitches, including 5 different overcast stitches, three different one-step button holes, a darning stitch, and good number of decorative stitches. It has a free arm that has been great for doing the small arm and leg holes on the children's clothing I've been making. It has a foot pedal, although you can also use it sans the pedal. It has an up/down button that "remembers" if you last made the needle stay down when you stopped stitching. It also has a reverse button and an automatic needle threader. It's very easy to wind the bobbin and you just pop open the little lid and drop it in the hole. Super easy!
The instruction manual is very easy to follow and it comes with an all purpose presser foot, a satin foot (great for sewing on buttons!), a button foot, and a zipper foot. It also comes with a seam ripper, some bobbins, a brush for cleaning, a screw driver, and some plastic rings that hold the spool of thread in place.
When I told my friends that I had purchased a Janome, all of them said it was a very good brand. I found out that is a Japanese company and Janome means "eye of the snake" as it was one of the pioneers of using a round bobbin instead of a long shuttle back in the 1920's. Janome was the first to make a computerized sewing machine in the 1970's. I'm including this information b/c if you've never heard of this brand before, it's not a fly by night. It's been around for awhile and it has a very good reputation with those who know it. I also found that Janome sponsors a DIY website, threadbanger.com, which has some really neat ways to be green by reusing, recycling, and reconstructing things.
In conclusion, go to a retailer and see for yourself. It's a solid machine!!

I wanted to create calendars for our family. I found this a good deal for the printer (I have Lexmark Z54) and for the requirement. I had taken 5 calendars out of this and it works good for the double-side calendar. I could get an excellent finish. Color rendering is perfect and I did not find any smudging or bloating. The thickness is fine enough for a double-sided output.
I also found Matte finish better than Glossy in case of inkjet printers, especially this one, the best.
I would definitely recommend this product.

UPDATE: 1-26-2012
I have been using this pencil sharpener faithfully since my original review, to the extent that 2 things happened. First, the blades (including the spare set) finally dulled, and I discovered that buying a pack of blades is a rather difficult task. Not wanting to leave the comfort of my apartment to venture to a physical art store, I searched online a bit and finally just bought another one of these sharpeners, largely because of the second thing: the lid broke off. The "hinge" for the clear plastic lid is just thin flexible plastic, but after opening and closing it enough times to dump the shavings, it broke off. This is hardly a design flaw as a metal hinge would be ridiculous and the sharpener worked well for a VERY long time. It is just worth noting.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I do a lot of pencil drawing with regular #2 pencils and I demand a very sharp point for thin, precise lines. Electric sharpeners can be good, but finding the right one is giant pain as many tend to do more harm than good. I have one that I use on brand new pencils, but for actually creating the desired sharp tip, or restoring the tip after a brief bit of drawing, a hand sharpener is best. I have tried many of these as well, mostly cheap items from the back-to-school bin, and they really don't work. Some shatter the pencil while others leave the tip dull and rounded, completely invalidating their purpose.
The Kum long point sharpener is not cheap rubbish. Its price, while relatively low, may seem steep for a simple hand pencil sharpener, but it's worth the extra bucks. The sharpener includes two blades. One is used to get the pencil "ready" for the second blade; it's a sort of preliminary "prep" blade. If you only used the first one, you would be pretty disappointed with the results. But, use the second blade afterward, and the pencil takes on a perfect, extremely sharp tip. The sharpener includes a small compartment for the pencil shavings, so that you don't have to hold it over the trash while using it.
I'm very pleased with the Kum long point sharpener, and I would recommend it to any artist who is fed up with other, ineffective sharpening tools.

I admit I don't do a lot of precision trimming and if I do it does a great job. Forget the "LED guide" I just eyeball it on the line and I'm always dead-on at least 99.9%
The blade storage is a big +
P.S. Look at my "Customer image" it points out several nice features!

I was looking for a paper trimmer that could handle the demands of cutting accurately through several sheets of cardstock without frustration and I found it. I wanted to be able to cut multiple pieces of paper of large and small sizes.
The last reviewer made the comment that you have to take a couple of extra steps. No big deal, In fact this is a positive feature. You lift up a lever to elevate the cutting blade rail and push it back down to lock it into place. That brief extra step locks up to 8 pieces of thick textured cardstock in place without any shifting of the cardstock, and with little effort. This total thickness of the cardstock was 1/8th of an inch. I found that I could cut 4 pieces of thick textured cardstock in one very smooth effortless movement. If I put 8 pieces down it took one push forward and one back and to cut through all of them. Someone with fairly severe arthritis would find all of this easy to do. SO MUCH BETTER than my Fiskars rotary cutter. The magnetic paper guage did a good job of blocking the paper at the length I wanted. I found that I could use it to cut a piece of paper as short as 1 3/4 inch. The trimmer is sturdy and has well defined markings in both english and metric measurements. It also has marked areas for various photo and paper sizes. The trimmer has it's instructions in a picture form right on the platform and has a storage area for extra blades and cutting mats. It comes with an extra cutting blade, perforating blade and cutting mat. I will be giving away 3 paper trimmers and enjoying this one for a very long time. If you are more than a casual scrapbooker this trimmer is for you.

Janome Jem Gold Plus Portable Sewing Machine with Light Serging

I was looking for a lightweight machine since I no longer do much sewing and I got tired of dragging out my 50 year old Necchi when I needed to do some repair. After reading all the reviews on the Janome 660,I ordered it. In the meantime I found the 661 and it had more features that I liked. I ordered the Jem Gold Plus and sent the 660 back without opening it. I haven't tried the serger yet but it sews like a dream, doesn't vibrate and is quiet. It has a beautiful, even straight stitch (no puckering), and the zig zags are all every even.

This is a very fun cartridege! There are so many variations of what you can do with it. I haven't even touched the tip of the iceberg with this one! Using chipboard to make the dolls and then cutting out the clothes and accessories with the Cricut for little girls is so much fun! Use the lighter weight paper for the clothes, not heavy cardstock! If you've priced paper dolls in the stores, they are quite pricey, so using this cartridge and your own colors to do the hair, etc. on the doll and the colors and patterns of paper you can use for the clothes and accessories is quite cost effective making them with the Cricut. I did these for a great niece and she loves them! I decorated a box with the copy of the doll on the lid and other fun things for her to keep her new paper doll and clothes, etc. in the box. I would give Cricut 10 stars if I could.
