Yamata FN14UAD Serger Machine 3/4 Thread, Heavy Duty Knife

This was a gift for my daughter-in-law. She had placed it on her wish list, and though the reviews were poor, especially concerning the machine breaking before actually using it, I went ahead and purchased. She was very excited to receive it, but as she was threading the bobbin, getting the machine set up, a metal piece broke off and rendered the machine unusable. This was actual 'metal' breaking, not metal connected to plastic. Evidently the metal used in this machine is the lowest grade, i.e. the kind we see used in very cheap toys made overseas.

When they called to set up a return they were told they would have to pay a re-stocking fee. Incredible! They eventually worked it out and they paid for shipping back, but I'm still out the shipping to me.

So don't waste shipping to see if it might work for you. Yes the price is good, but you get what you pay for.

I can't review the item yet, but I will review the shipping and then revise the review later if warranted. So far, I'm not impressed. I ordered this product on May 24 expecting it to arrive in, at the latest, a week. Ten days would be really pushing it. Nowhere on this description does it indicate that there is an extended wait for this product. I just now checked on my order, because I thought it was strange that I hadn't gotten it yet, only to see that the delivery window for this product is somewhere between JUNE 20 and JULY 9!!!! It has shipped, but there is no tracking information available for it so I have no idea what's going on or why it's taking such an exorbitant amount of time to get here what do they have to do, mine the silver yet????? I can only assume that this product is coming from Hong Kong or someplace similar, even though I did not see mention of that anywhere on the listing. I always steer well clear of things coming from outside the country that take that long to arrive unless it's something so unique and special that it is worth the long, long wait. Being an Amazon Prime member, I admit I'm spoiled as far as getting items quickly is concerned, but this is outrageously long. There should be a disclaimer in the listing, in my opinion, so you at least know what you're in for as far as the wait is concerned.

I'll go elsewhere for my grommets, thank you so much. They're not THAT unique of a product that I can't easily find them in a hundred other places if I put myself out a little bit. I don't want to wait until possibly after July 4 to make my beads!!!!! Beware, if you're in a hurry, or even wanting these in a reasonable amount of time, because you're not getting them from Dreambell.

I purchased this sewing machine as a gift for my grand-children. When it arrived, I checked it out to make sure it worked well and was a good machine for them. I read the manual to learn about its' features and made all the stitches on a scrap of material. The machine is quiet, runs smoothly and makes beautiful stitches, plus it is lightweight and easy to transport.

I was so thrilled that I kept raving, to my husband, about what a great little machine it is. In fact, I liked it so much, I decided to keep it for myself and I had to order another one for my grandchildren.

This machine is way better than many machines that cost much more. I already have a Bernina (expensive) and a Singer Featherweight but I fell in love with this sewing machine. I would recommend it to anyone and, in fact, I did. I told two my friends about it and they each bought one.

This is the best gun out there. A friend of mine purchased a "similar" one for $50 on another site and when it was delivered it was not even close to the quality of this one. It costs a little more than some but can be used daily without an problems. I poor a little water into the gun and blow it out after each use for a short term cleaning. Once a week I input a cleaner into the gun and blow it out to really clean out any gunk that may be hidding inside the needles.

Most importantly, I would purchase the recommended brushes to clean. DO NOT USE TOWELS OR PAPER PRODUCTS TO CLEAN. The tiny fibers will come off and can clog the needle. You can't get them out and will have to replace your needles.

Definitely recommend this product!!!

This Singer model 6160 deserves no star. I purchased this Singer model @ the world's largest retail store chain when it first came out. No reviews were out at the time. So I thought go Singer you can't go wrong; Right? I have been sewing for over 40 yr. I'm a seamstress, and have designed my own patterns. So I am no dummy using a sewing machine. This is by far the worst machine model 6160 from Singer. Were do I begin. As with other reviews:

#1)Bobbin thread bunches up for no apparent reason and has come out of the

casing on several occasions.

#2)Machine does not handle thick fabrics at all.

#3)There are multiple problems with tension settings; either too tight, or too

loose no continuity in setting tension.

#4)Thread seams to continuously come out of thread take up lever causing

continuous thread breakage while sewing and have to stop, and re-thread the

machine sometimes several times during just doing one seam!

5#)Also automatic threader has never worked. I have never had such a frustrating

sewing machine. I will be getting another sewing machine soon. Sewing to me is

suppose to be pleasurable and relaxing, not with this model.

My blood pressure goes up when I'm sewing on this junk. I will never ever get another machine that has a bottom bobbin casing I don't even want to sell this p.o.s. to anyone. Best place unfortunately is the dumpster. Singer shame on you! I have been getting Singer's for years. I started sewing, on my grandmother's Singer treadle (ca.1900)sewing machine that did way better then this thing! Buyer beware of buying this sewing machine, or any Singer sewing machine for that matter. Singer has apparently been bought and sold many times. Singer Co.is certainly not what it used to be, shoddy workmanship and substandard parts.

In 15 years I have bought 3 Singer machines. Stupid me STAY AWAY FROM SINGER!

I would never have considered it except I saw it in action over the weekend. A fellow potter was doing a demo on it and I fell in love. He sat it on top of a bucket and went to town. (no, he didn't use the legs) He has used his for a couple of years now and wouldn't part with it I offered to buy it from him .

In general, I like kick wheels, not electric wheels. But this one is different. It can go REALLY slow and quite fast. The speed is controlled by a little knob not a foot petal which gives you a lot more control set it and it stays at that speed. No wet clay colapsing from a suddenly speeding wheel caused by an accidental nudge of the foot as you change positions. It is just the right size full sized wheel head (11 inches) and weight 26 pounds. It uses regular bats (it also comes with the weird square one).

I wouldn't recomend it for production potting throwing 20 pound pots, but it is just right for a person like me that throws and trims a few pots a week and wants a wheel that doesn't take up a lot of precious floor space, nor weigh half a ton. It isn't a junky toy, which is what I thought when I first looked at it. It actually works. This is now on my Christmas list. I will add another review after I use mine.

Singer Superb Computerized Sewing Machine 2010CL

I bought this to start back/ begin sewing. It is a nice little machine that comes with a wide variety of accessories and stitches. There are arrows and diagrams everywhere on how to load your thread, wind your bobbin, and how to load your bobbin. It takes a lot of the guess work out if you are unwilling to open the manual if you are like me.

I will say do not buy this machine if the fonts are the deciding factor. They are not as nice as an embroidered font and honestly I could live without them because so many of them are not pretty and useless. When I purchased this machine I was having problems with it skipping stitches with the decorative stitches and the fonts. This was a user error that a friend of mine helped me with. I just had to adjust the tension and no more skipped stitches. I've had the machine about a week and have used it for applique and basic sewing and I've been happy with it so far. There are some fun fancy stitches though not all of them are perfect. You can at least make out what they are and it is enough to make me happy.

I have not used the memory function just yet so I cannot speak of the abilities, but the push button start stop, up/down button, and slide speed control are all very useful and make sewing just that much easy. There is also a button that can be used to either do one complete fancy stitch or to complete the last fancy stitch of a row so none of the stitch is missed. I'm not sure what the button is called but it has been a fantastic resource so I do not have to guess when to stop at the end of a cute in depth stitch.

I will update as time goes by but so far I'm happy with my choice.

I do have nitpicky complaints now that I've used it for a bit longer. The reverse stitch button only works if you have come to a complete stop. I find this irritating because it slows me down. My other complaint is that you cannot use the start/stop button while the foot peddle is plugged in. I like to use both for different reasons but I find that I have to stop what I'm doing with the foot peddle and unplug it to use the start/stop button. These are not major issues, but they are irritating.

The replacement blades for the swingline trimmer were surprisingly hard to find. The supplier we bought the cutter from does not carry the blades, so thank goodness for Amazon! They install easily and work just fine. It's too bad that they designed it so that you have to throw away that large piece of metal.

This is a nice piece: It's solid, it's portable, and the pieces work just like they're supposed to. The whole process -planning the route, picking the pieces, assembling, seeing how it works, tweaking to get it just right -is very satisfying. It would be nice if it were bigger, but it would be much less manageable, so I think Smart Lab found the right compromise there. It does seem like there are pieces that will disappear and break in the future, too, so I'm not sure this is a hand-me-down toy. But it's hard to argue with a toy that rewards your child's ingenuity by shooting a spring-loaded plastic pig across the room! A winner.
