I'm in the coin business and buy a lot of scrap gold and silver. I thought this thing would stream-line my tried-and-true method of acid/scratch testing: It does not. I tried it multiple times to verify known standards (24k credit suise bar and 22k gold eagles) and it does not come back with the correct measurement consistently. Out of ten measurements and ten cleanings maybe it was close about 20% of the time. Most of the measurements came back low and that is unacceptable...unless your intention is to rip people off. Not accurate enough for me. I even measured some 14k samples and it came back 16k and 18k a few times...that's ok if you want to rip yourself off.
Most of the vendors that I saw selling this unit WILL NOT accept it back for a refund if it has been used at all: How are you supposed to know if it works if you don't use it? My original unit was purchased from a vendor that also sells on the most popular of all auction sites (I still payed about the same for it). And, my unit's power switch broke off the second I took it out of the box. I contacted the seller and he didn't want anything to do with the busted unit and that any defects have to be resolved with the manufacturer. The manufacturer is in my same state of CA and they didn't get to fixing my unit until I called and yelled at them a little...after all I only had about five days left of the ten days to return the item for "credit" or an exchange. What a joke. The seller by the way was iGem, and I purchased the high-end GXL-24. I know this is a review for the GT-4000, but they all have the same testing electronics with in them. All of them are junk.
Euro-Pro 1100 Dressmaker II Sewing Center
If you are looking for a quick little machine for quick little jobs, this is for you. If you just need to crank out some straight stitches to hem or secure something simple, this will work perfectly. I sewed up a duvet cover; worked fine.
PROS: Cheap, small, lightweight, easy to set up. Heck, it even comes out of the box already threaded and ready to go with a spool of white thread!
CONS: It's small, and simple. Not much room for a lot of material to the right of the pressure foot of course, and you must take the sewing slow and steady, never pull. Not versatile, no zig zags or other stuff. Just straight, straight stitch.
Overall: Recommended for the most basic of sewing -the straight stitch on broadcloth. Don't expect it to be more than it is; you get good value for your thirty bucks, but it ISN'T "as good as" a full sized sewing machine, of course! Go ahead and get this; it will do your small chores as you spend time figuring out which really cool sewing machine you'll spend serious money on...

TruForm Armatures: Individual Figure Armature 12"
I received the TruForm 12" armature expecting the plastic bones and hardware to mount to my homemade figure stand. It arrived composed of foam ribs, pelvis and skull, but wire arms, legs and no mounting hardware on the spine. Apparently I misread the description for this one as the models show are the 18", 24" and 36" with the plastic bones and mounting hardware.
Despite how minimal it is, it's quite interesting to look at. Apparently the folks at TruForm took time honing their skeletal craftsmanship to an art as the skull is quite correct to my surprise. The orbits will fit 6 mm BB's, though eyes at that exact scale are actually 3.5 mm. It's a gray, not white foam that makes up most of the armature's bone structure which has a simplified version of the bone shapes themselves. It arrived with one leg slightly longer than the other, but with a little coaxing it evened out. If anything a few modifications can add "bones" to the wire, mostly shaping some plumber's putty (epoxy) or Apoxie Sculpt can help.
What is a bit of a mystery is how to attach hands to the armature at a later time and still be able to mount it on my homemade armature stand. The spine on this model (12") is a doubled up heavy gauge aluminum wire that makes up the neck, arms and legs. It might take some coaxing and modifying to make it like the ones in the picture, but it's certainly doable.
I went ahead and got the 24" model as well, so if don't use the or modify the 12" one, I'll probably keep it as a curiosity.

This is a great little tumbler to polish rocks. If you have no idea about rocks or how this machine works you need to do a little research. This is not the type of item to just buy and expect to polish rocks in a weekends time without even having to read the directions. The tumbler is also recommended for children ten years or older.
To polish rocks properly it will take a solid month of tumbling and is a three step process. This means the tumbler will be running for the entire month. The first step takes about a week, the second about two weeks, with the final step about one week. Between the steps all you have to do is clean out the barrel and the rocks and put back in with new water and the next level of grit/polish. Besides occasionally making sure the tumbler was sealed properly and is in no danger of walking itself off the table it requires no other attention. The tumbler does make some noise tumbling but not a ridicules amount. You obviously can't place it in your bedroom or living room and expect it not to be heard. Placement in a basement or garage is ideal. The power draw is minimal as it only uses .15 amps and 10 watts. Therefore, if you pay 10 cents a kWh, then the amount it will run up your electric bill for a month of constant running is 73 cents.
The instructions that come with the tumbler are also pretty good, but they do need followed. The tumbler is durable but you need to lube two points as indicated in the manual or you will put excess stress on the motor and you will burn it out. The drum seals quite well and easily if you follow the instructions on sealing which requires you to make sure the "O" ring is properly seated and you put a light coating of oil on the rim of the barrel to complete the seal.
Refills for the tumbler are extremely easy to find. Starting with the order form including with the kit where you can order parts, grit, rocks, etc. You can also purchase refill kits at Walmart, Target, and Kmart. There are also dozens of places you can also order refill stuff off the internet.
Overall, this is a great little item but it is not for everyone. If you or your children can't delay immediate gratification, or don't believe in reading/following instructions then this item is not likely for you. If you can't believe the noise it makes because you insisted on setting it up next to your bed, or can't believe that it costs less then a dollar a month to run then this is also not likely for you.

I've had mixed results with this tool sometimes, the snap fastens perfectly, but other times, I need to remove the snap, try to bend the prongs back, and try it again. Even when the two sides of the snap are put into the tool correctly, you're never sure that it'll line up just right.
There's just enough "play" in the alignment of the two sides, that it can cause the snaps to join crookedly.. Sorry, but not recommended.
Me & My Big Ideas Rhinestone Iron Ons - Large
I bought a bunch of these rhinestone iron ons for my self and my bridesmaids. I did the bridesmaids shirts first and they all worked perfectly. This one however, some of the adhesive wasn't on the rhinestones when i opened the package therefor I was not able to iron them all on. I just wish it worked like the other ones I had bought. The rhinestones that did adhere stayed on though.

It has 100 built-in stitches, in which each of the preset settings work great just punch in the number of the desired stitch, which are all located on the face of the machine. The button-hole attachment is simple to use and works great, too. This machine does not have built-in stitches to monogram numbers and initials. So, if that is a desire, then you want to search for a different model. If you do not need to stitch numbers and initials, this machine, so far, is proving to be a great purchase!

This machine represents the most incredible value-for-money on the market today. It is very, very easy to use, and the manual is exceptionally helpful. It comes with every foot and accessory you could ever possibly need. In fact, there is nothing more you can buy for it. Compare that to the other sewing machine manufacturers, which give you only the most basic feet and then you must purchase everything else separately. If you have been hankering for the convenience of fully computerized sewing, automatic needle threading, push-button sewing, and lots of fun stitches, don't hesitate. I highly recommend this machine. I've owned very expensive machines from all the top manufacturers, and would not recommend it if the stitches were not beautiful or if it were loud or junky. This machine is the Featherweight of the 21st century, with tons of stitches and fun built in. Go for it!!!

I did a side-by-side comparison of these pouches against some Scotch 3mil pouches on both Scotch and Fellows branded laminating machines. These Fellowes pouches did impress me as being a little better quality than the Scotch pouches and the end result was slightly thicker and a tiny bit more firm feeling to me. This was true for both of the machines I tested. I've used heavy card stock in these pouches with no issues. The only time I see any waviness is in a half empty pouch. (The instructions do warn you not to run half empty pouches through the machine.) I experienced no color or visibility distortion. I also didn't have any issues with air bubbles as the 2 sides of each pouch are attracted to each other statically, which helps keep excess air out.

I was looking for good quality parchment/cotton paper for a long time as well when i came across this brand. The quality of their product is great, but with major setback, at least for me: Everything from this company comes with watermarks on every page. Just to be clear, i am printing high quality advertising material on this paper, so when I buy paper of this grade the last thing i need is some advertisement being embedded by production company, which is visible. I know my paper cutters. I regularly used Premiers, X-actos, and even an old No. 4 I got at a yard sale. This is far and away the best of the lot, and it's not even a close race. The 1038 is simply in another class.
First, the guards. On the 1038 they're very easy to deal with. They don't slow you do and you would REALLY have to work to cut yourself. Many of the other models simply don't have guards or if they do it's the one wire to stop you from sliding your fingers under the blade. The 1038 has the stop fingers guard AND another guard that sheaths the blade when it's in its upright position. Smart.
Second, squareness. I've never adjusted the 1038, have moved it here and there and from place to place, and it's always dead on at 90 degrees. Very nice. The adjustable sliding arm also locks down at a dead on 90 degrees, which is nice. This allows for much faster work. The 1038 also has an outrigger arm that extends out to hold the cut-off part of the paper horizontal. I've never seen this on another paper cutter and it greatly helps you get the exact, 90 degree cut you want. The outrigger arm can be adjusted for any length of paper, and can be fully retracted for when you're trimming off very short pieces.
Third, performance. As noted, you get 90 degree cuts. The hold down really holds down the paper, so even when you're cutting many sheets you get no shifting. I have cut up to 30 sheets at a time, and I'm sure I could do more (I believe the machine is rated up to 40). You get nowhere near this amount on other machines. Go above 8 or 9 on a Premier and the paper will shift and you'll get a mess. The table is also very smooth and has a hard painted finish, which means if you spill some glue or Coke on it it can easily be scrubbed off. In a real working environment this is going to happen, and once you've tried working on a sticky paper cutter you'll know how important this is. Also, spare parts and service are readily available. Keep in mind that most paper cutters are designed to be thrown away when the blade gets dull. Not so this beast.
I suggest you watch the video on youtube. It gives you a good sense of what the machine can do and how it works. Overall, it's fantastic. It's German made and allows you to work very quickly and to get excellent results. Do I have any complaints? Not really. The arm does not automatically rise up after a cut the way it does on other cutters. This is a safety feature, I believe, but in some ways it's rendered moot by the blade sheath. Regardless it's not a pain to simply raise the arm back up yourself.
I love this machine. In my job I use it every day and will for years to come. It's quality and will last many a lifetime. With things like this, things you will use regularly, this machine is a strong argument for the old saying: buy the best and cry once about the high price, or buy the cheap one and cry every time you use it about the poor performance.
