It was the best buy for the money on the Internet in my searches. I really like it and have used it often. It keeps my sewing machine secure as I travel to classes. Thanks for a great and fairly-priced product.

the photo shows metal tip that hold the blades Not what you get they are plastic and dont hold the blades. The case didnt come in in the plastic they show in the picture just the blade holding box that was broken and you could tell that this set had been used. most of the blades were damaged either before shipping or durning and they were covered in glue. I threw this set right in the garbage. if cheap, useless is what your looking for then this is a great set however if like me your looking for a decent set with metal handles and tips look elsewhere

I have used these on my luggage for several years, but lost a couple tags thanks to baggage handlers and/or airport equipment. That same event necessitated a new luggage set, so I need to buy more tags.
These are very easy to use. You peel back the tag, place whatever you want to "laminate" in the middle and then carefully press the tag shut to seal it in there. Be sure to leave enough space around whatever you place in the middle so it can seal on all sides. Then use the little cord that comes with it to attach it to your luggage strap.
We have never had one smudge, tear or break, and they don't bend very easily either. I just used the new set on a trip last month and although one of my bags came back heavily bent, the tag held up beautifully.
I would highly recommend these for anyone wanting to add a little personalization to their luggage.

I was very disappointed with how this product was packaged. The pendulum rod was bent in half so that it would fit in the small box it was shipped in. Also, the two clock parts that hold the hands were pretruding through the box. Can't get the part to work now. Key won't turn to wind it. :-(

Making Memories Paper Trimmer, 12 Inch-by-12 Inch, Black

List Price: $49.99
Sale Price: $30.00

It's rare for someone to go against the scrapbooking grain so I'm hopeful you'll read this review with an open mind.
When my previous trimmer cut one too many crooked lines, I bit the bullet and started the search for a new one. After extensive research, I decided to go ahead and buy the Making Memories trimmer. I gasped at the price, but pulled out my discount coupon and sorta justified it. I haven't worked in 13 months, so this was a major decision for me!
Great trimmer, I thought, when I first pulled it out of the box. Looks gorgeous, sturdy ... which it must be considering its really heavy weight. (This is not a trimmer for those with comprised strength in their hands/wrists. Not only is it very heavy, the ruler they want you to use to hold paper in place -kind of stupid since it's only a sheet at a time -is SUPER strong, VERY difficult to pry off.) So I was a bit surprised to find it could only cut up to cardstock, and only one or two sheets at a time. But the other trimmers were like that, right? And this one's blade self-sharpens, so I'd never, ever need to worry about the blade.
So I put it to work, making Christmas surprise boxes for my year's cards. It was incredibly difficult at first to pull the blade back and forth ... but I figured it was breaking in or something, and eventually it did ease up. What did NOT ease up was the horrible squealing noise! It's what others have described, and it truly is ear-piercing, fingers-on-the-chalkboard bad. I saw some posts that talked about a couple of drops of sewing machine oil, but this is a paper cutter!!
OK. Holidays pass, it's busy, have a couple of birthdays and use the trimmer pretty sparsely till about a week and a half ago. Pulled it out and brought it to a class at a local scrapbook store. Used it, and it actually jaggedy-edge ripped my paper. I tried blowing out the bits of paper dust I could see inside the groove, but no improvement. So I called Making Memories the next business day.
The woman who answered was pleasant, but very, very rushed. She threw out a couple of answers to my questions but obviously was in a hurry to move on. Turns out, my blade was out of alignment and she'd e-mail me an instruction sheet to realign it. That horrible noise? It's the arm where the blade slides along ... just a couple of drops of oil, she said. I couldn't even get a "Thank you" out before the phone was hung up. The e-mail arrived seconds later.
Wow, I thought. Kinda scary that this is such a big problem they have an insta-e-mail response. So I followed the instructions and it turned out that yes, indeed, my blade was out of alignment. It's not suppose to be in the groove where all the paper dust has been trapped. It's suppose to be OUTSIDE the edge. (OK. WHY is there a groove there in the first place? It's not like something slides along there. Design flaw for sure.)
SO I moved it back into place and pulled the blade back and forth a few times to resharpen it, as instructed. WOW! Not only was the horrible squealing noise gone, the blade zipped along the track like butter ... just like all the reviews said!! Only ... my paper was not being evenly cut. Still. I tred a few more times, and no luck. Decided to call MM back.
Go to the Web site and request a replacement product, I was told. I did, and then was told I needed to furnish a receipt. Well, after I'd had the trimmer for a few weeks, I recycled the receipt and the box. With so many glowing reviews, why would I need to keep it? After much back and forth, I got absolutely nowhere. And guess what? They don't bother to sell the blade or blade compartment by itself. So now I have a piece of landfill-er.
I don't understand, 1. WHY isn't there a warranty card to return? 2. WHY are there NO instructions to indicate such a problem exists? Apparently if people try to cut inappropriate amounts of paper, it's going to throw the blade out of alignment. I never did this, and in fact am certain that my blade was out of alignment the entire time I had the trimmer. How would I have known? But it's a big enough problem they have a ready-to-send e-mail.
I went around and around and around, pointing out how much money has been invested in this company by the scrapping community, and every other sentence in response was, "I'm really so very sorry."
Well, I'm really so very sorry I ever bought this product, and I sincerely hope that after reading my story you will reconsider your purchase. This was a major thing for me, and now I feel like I was selfish in taking money from my family to buy something for myself. I was hopeful I could sell some crafts this summer to bring in a little bit of money, but I won't have a trimmer to help in this.

Side strap stitching pulled out on half of the strap within 1 week of use. Also the length of strap is way too long for a teenager. It far exceeds the length needed for a side/hip bag. Need to double-over the top of strap and pin it shorter to meet needs of length.
Nice fabric and color, but the sewing quality is poor!

I bought this machine at Michael's (craft store) for use with Polymer Clay. The machine was very poorly made and broke on the second day of use! The "clamp" that helps hold it to the table did not fit properly so I had to borrow some of my husband's clamps so it wouldn't move around....but then, while using it, the dials (that gauge the thickness of the clay) completely broke.
I returned it and am going to get a nicer Atlas machine. Don't waste your time with this one....you'll only be disappointed and frustrated with it!

Tension was perfect right out of the box. It is plastic cased, so I am treating it gingerly compared to the hefty metal machine on which I learned to sew. Very easy to thread and wind bobbins. The manual has very clear illustrations. However, it requires some flipping through as each series of steps is printed in several languages. Very enjoyable, and I look forward to using it. I hope with care it lasts a good long time.

It is lightweight and sturdy, lighter even than a spindly wooden French easel. Setup and breakdown take 10 seconds. With the 4th leg, it is super steady. The width of the front legs is adjustable to allow for smaller canvasses. I paint on large canvasses, and the widest width is roomy for the 24 x 36 canvas that I am currently using.
The price is great. Most easels are double the price for inferior technology. That 4th leg really makes a difference.

I recently ordered this magnifier for my mother and her coin collecting hobby. Sadly, when it showed up, it was not quite what we expected. First up, the unit we received was defective. The light would not turn on...and even smoked a tiny bit when we first powered it up.
Second, it was very cheaply made. There were scuffs and scratches around the housing, the batteries would not fit into their compartment properly, and the light was a regular small bulb (not LED, like many magnifiers).
In short, this is a very cheaply made unit.

Janome HD1000 Heavy-Duty Sewing Machine with 14 Built-In Stitches

I was torn between this Janome HD1000 and the Singer Heavy Duty. Even though I'm a sewing novice, I personally dislike the new wave of plastic bodied machines. I was using a beautiful robin's egg blue Singer from the '60s or '70s--older than I am!--and it was great until perplexing tension issues began to crop up. I didn't want a slick computerized machine taking its place, so the Singer Heavy Duty immediately caught my eye, due to its 'traditional' looking body as well as exciting features such as a drop-in bobbin and 20 plus stitches, one step buttonhole, etc. However, the lackluster reviews, complaints of a very short lifespan, and overall disintegration of the Singer brand's quality left me wary.
The metal body of the Janome is amazing. Sure, it may be heavier, but the overall durability seems greater than any plastic. The bobbin is front loading, which was frightening at first (no 'jam free' guarantee) but it hasn't been a problem at all. The metal casing that holds the bobbin seems very sturdy and made to last. Though the flashiness of a thousand different stitches is alluring, I realistically use only... Two or so for my garment sewing. I haven't touched any other stitches yet, so 14 is more than enough for me. Those who are doing projects that show off stitchwork might want more variety, but again, I think the Janome's offerings are more than adequate for most people.
As I said, I'm relatively new to sewing machines (I used to hand sew everything!), but I was able to use the Janome soon after it was unpacked. I had to look up how to load the bobbin, and the inner hand wheel was initially stubborn (I used one of those grippy rubber jar-openers to help--very useful!), and everything flew from there. The automatic needle threader is an amazing luxury; at first, I thought it might not really be necessary, but I absolutely am in love with it. And oddly enough, I received a hard case even though I thought this Janome came with a soft cover (but no complaints here!)
I first felt guilty about being unfaithful to my older Singer, but this Janome is quickly becoming an indispensible new friend.
EDIT: It's a little over a year later (9/12) and this machine is humming away beautifully. I still use the metal Bernina bobbins, and they work very well. I did have some frustrating issues with getting the bobbin thread picked up, as it seemed to get caught and jam, but I realized that this was due to my own inexperience and stupidity! As I'm sure is common knowledge for everyone else, I only needed to make sure I was bringing the needle all the way back up to its highest position before attempting to pull up the bobbin thread. I only mention this embarrassing incident in case others may have had the same problem, as I had the initial reaction of blaming the machine rather than myself.
Anyway, I've sewn quilting-quality cotton to oilcloth and several layers (seriously, like 4-5) of heavy cotton duck (to make a heavy-duty saddle bag for my bike.. it went quite well, considering I pulled the plan from thin air--I'm so proud, haha) and the Janome worked right through them. I occasionally had some difficulty with the layers and layers of folded cotton duck, but that's where the extra high presser foot really came in handy! A sewing machine isn't essential in my life, as I'm a casual, hobby sewer, but I love my Janome like I would an extra arm (and who doesn't need an extra arm sometimes?), though without the self-consciousness an additional appendage would bring.

I've worked with those really old, big, and clunky sewing machines when I was about 8-13 years old under my mom's and grandmother's supervision. Now I'm 25, and recently decided I needed a sewing machine of my own. I don't have room for any big machine similar to what I was used to, so I thought a small portable one should do the job for me.
I got a really cheap $30 set from Walgreens, and that stopped working 5 minutes out of the box. Figured I ought to be a little more serious, so I opted to spend more than I really wanted to get this. I am very glad that I did.
I just got it today. The manual is super easy to understand. I'd never threaded a machine on my own before, but there is even a numbered guide right on the machine to tell you where the top thread goes. The guide on the machine plus the very simple instructions in the manual made threading the thing a breeze.
With the foot pedal, it's fairly easy to control the speed. I've read some reviews on similar machines (a Brother one, in particular, that I was also looking at) with complaints of it going from 0 to 100 with nothing in between. Not so with this one.
It's really quiet. It's a little awkward having the top spool horizontal, but it works. It's a little heavier than I expected, but that makes it more sturdy. It has a little storage compartment that's really convenient and a nice way to keep everything in one place. It has a little lever for reverse sewing, which I really like. Comes with a neat little cover that has a slot at the top for the carrying handle.
Overall, it is a very straightforward machine that works great, is simple to use and easy to understand.
