Dritz Sewing Machine Lil' Stitch Mini Cordless

We bought this sewing machine simply because it is cheap, and we needed something for a quick fix, not long term use. I did not bother to read any reviews before hand. What we found out is that there is a problem with the gearing, and the thread does not feed correctly. As a result, the thread constantly breaks while attempting to sew. Aside from that, the light is weak, the foot pedal malfunctions, and it's just a piece of junk. Save yourself the headache and spend more money on something better.

TCPglobal Brand Hobby Paint Spray Booth Tabletop Airbrush Spray

Surprisingly, in Japan this unit is sold under the Tamiya label at a much higher price than what I paid. However, it wasn't worth half of what I paid for it. Tamiya's reputation is such that it demands and gets a premium for its products, which made this units' lack of performance a surprise.

In photos it appears to be a solid and substantial unit. In fact, the translucent projection on the front of it AND the black fold-out front portion of it which the booth comprises are both made of a thin, insubstantial vinyl substance not much thicker than a file folder. The vent motor will only move a very small amount of air, and would not even begin to remove the fumes and excess spray from even a moderately-operated airbrush in this booth. Since almost any paint is an unhealthy substance to breathe into your lungs, its weakly-worded disclaimer stating that it was not to be used with any flammable fumes or dangerous substance would seem to invalidate the device for any purpose except maybe watering small potted plants.

Spray paint booths have, as a rule, some sort of filter and an extraction fan; this unit had a tiny piece of foam for a "filter" and an anemic fan motor. The exhaust, which ought to connect to some standard size of piping such as a 4" or larger piece of dryer vent for venting to an area outside of the working area, is a flattened, non-standard ... thing ... of no particular use and of very short length. No points for that.

In short, this product can't safely be used for the purpose for which it is sold, and if it WERE usable, it couldn't do the job for which it was bought. Just keep saving your money a little longer and buy one that actually works.

This is a really cool cartridge and there are a lot of different possibilities of items to cut. I was expecting to use it all the time, since I make a lot of cards, but I have only used it three times. The images are really cool, and the phrases are cute, but I find that they are not things I will use very often. I'm still glad I have it, and hopefully I can get some use out of it soon!

Michley Lil' Sew & Sew Sewing Machine

At first I was a little wary with all the reviews. Some said it did not work. Some said bobbins were a problem. I waited a month or so and used it extensively before I decided to review it so it would be accurate.

Firstly, the machine is very easy to thread. There is an instructional video on their website:

This was extremely helpful for me as it was the first time I've ever owned/used a sewing machine in my life and did not for the life of me understand the intricacies of threading and tension. Make sure you follow the threading instructions to the key, or the machine will jam. Threading it the right way will solve this problem.

Secondly, the machine has a bobbin winder with an instructional pamphlet on how to get it working (again, a necessity for a sewing dummy like me). I got it working just fine and substituted the bobbins with the thread I actually wanted.

Thirdly, all of the patterns on the machine work. I tested them all out on some scrap fabric as I noticed some low-end sewing machines tend to advertise more patterns than they actually have (such as the Singer Pixie Plus).

The machine is cute and small. If you're looking for a heavy weight substitute for your Singer/Brother, this is not the machine for you. If you're looking to do some simple hemming and stitching with light fabrics such as cotton, this is the machine for you.

If you substitute the bobbins, look for something similar in size and material. This machine uses metal bobbins. There are some generic metal bobbins which are exactly the same sold at JoAnn's. These have worked for me.

So far I have hemmed and sewn two 24 x 24 inch decorative pillow covers and it still works perfectly. I have substituted the bobbins, wound up and prepared new bobbins and threaded and re-threaded multiple times with no problems. If your stitches look like a loose line, check the tension dial on the needle.

To wrap things up, I'm honestly not sure what the fuss is about concerning this machine since it has worked like a dream for me. I highly recommend this for a first sewing machine!

Purchased this for my wife as a Christmas gift and was disappointed to find it was a pretty cheap quality vinyl carrying bag. For the price I would have expected some padding on the sides and ends to protect the machine whilst being carried. Oh well!!! Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I've been wanting to try a rotary paper cutter for quite a few years due to straight blade cutters' propensity to cut crooked. Here are my take on the cutters' pros and cons.

PROS:

* Safe I can't even imagine a way to cut yourself using this cutter.

* The blade's fully enclosed, and you aren't even exposed during blade changes.

* Good for small numbers of sheets.

* Straight cuts for photos.

* Compact.

* Light weight.

* Clamp works well.

CONS:

* Clamp you may forget to set prior to cutting.

* Paper insertion hard to insert more than several sheets under the guide (even with the clamp up).

* Paper insertion difficult to insert folded sheets.

* Must remember to press the spring loaded cutting wheel down throughout the entire cutting stroke.

* Light weight...not likely to last decades under heavy use.

* Hard to use the matte scale to do 1/2 cuts (i.e., cutting paper to 1/2 its original width, which I seem to do a lot).

* Have to replace worn cutting wheels at $15-17 each.

* Have to replace or flip worn cutting matte.

Would I buy again? Only if I wanted to trim photos precisely or I had kids I wanted to protect from cuts. Also would be great for scrap booking.

Fiskars 12-Inch Ultimate Craft Trimmer

I was so excited to buy the Fiskars Ultimate Craft Rotary 12'' Paper Trimmer. I took it out of the package and the first thing I did was try to lift up the Guard Rail. I couldn't figure it out so I had to ask my husband to help. It turns out you have to use both hands to do it. You must use your fingers to press each end of the Guard Rail to unsnap it, because every time you put the Guard Rail down, it snaps into place. Well, this is hard on the fingers. It chipped one of my nails, and I have short nails. If you have long fingernails, forget about this paper trimmer. I bought it to take to Crops (I'm a scrapbooker) but I may just have to lug my big Fiskars Paper Trimmer instead bummer! If possible, test this out before you buy!

I purchased this lube after attending airbrush action magazine's airbrush getaway in Vegas. It has a great consistency to it. It's thick enough that air can't easily pick it up and spray through the gun, and thin enough to not dry up easily. So far, i like it and plan to keep using it. Some advice for anyone that will be purchasing an Iwata airbrush, is to find out if your gun includes a tube of the super lube. I purchased a gun the same time i ordered some super lube, and found that the gun came with a smaller tube of lube.

I have found this machine to be both compact and well made. Mostly metal, there are a few plastic bits, but I don't think these would cause future problems. It's FASTsuper fast. It zips through heavy weight fabrics with ease. I am pleased with the simple, but useful array of stitches (my other machines offer more stitches, but I rarely use them). This machine is stable and does not bounce (I have returned other machines that bounce when used).

I think the light could be vastly improved -it is way too dim. I prefer the LCD light on my other machines.

All and all, I would buy this machine again and recommend to other crafters.

UPDATE: I have now been using this machine for several weeks. I'm very impressed-the speed is fabulous-note, this may be too fast for people new to sewing. Good thing Singer added a finger guard (which gets in the way a bit, but I'm sure I would have otherwise sewn through my fingers by now). Most recently, I have enjoyed how effortlessly it zipps through thick fabrics amazing!

This product is super easy to use. The only thing I dont like about it is the clamp that holds the pieces tight while you push down to pin them together. When I tighten up the clamp, it seems to spread the joint apart instead of keeping it nice and tight...plus it bites into the wood a little and leaves little indent marks.

Anyhow, those are my little gripes about the product. Takes a little practice to get the hang of but works really really well. I would recommend this to anyone interested in framing at home.
