Easy to use after researching you tube videos.

I was hoping to use it to hem up some good quality slacks. I have the correct thread however I can't get the amount of stitching to show through close enough to what I was hoping. I was hoping to not see the thread at all but I couldn't get the thread showing to be invisible or even close to invisible. I ended up sewing by hand to be sure the thread was not visible. This would work well on material that is less finely woven. I am looking forward to using it in the future.

Please be advised that these needles may come and be to short. Amazon will replace them but it may take awhile for replacements. The short ones are about 1/4" short and will not fit correctly. If you remove the needle stop on the airbrush they will work.

I needed some extra sheets of 4x6 photo paper to run the ink cartridge in my Picturemate down to empty. So I thought I would try this premium paper. The Epson website is very vague about what paper will work in the Picturemate. Well my experiment shows that the S041727 paper works better than the T5570 paper that comes with the refill kit. The S041727 paper is thicker and whiter than standard picturemate paper.

I have a Pfaff quilters machine that died and needs parts. It is going to cost about double the cost of this machine to repair it. So I figured what the heck. I've been sewing since grade school in the 1960s and have used all sorts of machines. I also worked at a fabric store for a number of years. I have some advice for the beginner. Various reviews of this machine complain about some problems I thought I'd speak to here.

This is a nice little machine. Initially even I had trouble with it. Discovered that the threading instruction picture in the instruction book is a bit tricky. Don't forget to thread the little bracket that is above the needle. It is step 7 in the book, but not obvious in the picture and not obvious on the machine. The thread first goes through the fairly obvious metal holder in step six, then it needs to go in that little tiny bracket, a small piece of metal that is laying on top of the needle mount. If you don't thread that, the thread will ball up underneath and mess up your sewing and lock up. I suggest stopping at a Joann Fabrics where they sell this machine and ask someone to show you if you can't find it. that's what I ended up doing.

Also for the beginner, Singer machines in particular can also tangle the thread if you don't gently hold the ends at the beginning of a seam. Sometimes, it will pull the thread down into the bobbin area and lock up. This is solved simply by holding the ends for the first couple of stitches. Eventually, after you've had to rip out a few balled up seams, you remember.

I made a heavy vinyl pouch with it as my first project, and it handled the vinyl really well. The feeddogs struggled a bit with the weight of the fabric, pulling it out of line, so I had to put the weight of the fabric on a chair so it didn't pull. Another tip for the beginner, always stop the machine with the needle in the fabric. You do this by stopping and quickly turning the wheel to get that needle back in the fabric.

Another tip here to any new sewer. First take the original needle out of that machine and throw it away. You have no idea what kind of shape it is in. Open the packet of needles that are in the little door in the free arm and use a fresh needle. Sharp needles are critical to any project. And they only stay sharp for a few projects at most.

When you are working with heavy fabric like vinyl or denim, you need to use a heavy duty needle, especially if you are going through four layers of denim. Check them out at the fabric store. Get the type of needle that matches your type of fabric. If you are not sure, ask. And sew through the thick parts very slowly, sometimes you may need to manually insert the needle and pull it up to get through a lot of layers properly to get the machine going. Take your time.

Knits need different needles, sometimes, a ballpoint needle that passes between fibers instead of splitting them as you sew. Fine fabrics also need different needles and they must be very sharp.

Whenever the stitching balls up under your piece, it is likely because the top or bobbin is threaded wrong. Make sure the thread is coming off the bobbin with the loose thread pointing to the left. It can be a bad needle. It can be a tension problem or a bad match between needle and fabric. If the stitches seem really tight, the tension can be turned a half number either way and solve the problem, but only after you have ruled out the other problems. IT happens to the best of us so don't get discouraged. Imagine me going into my old store to have them show me how to thread a machine. : )

Beyond all that, I liked sewing with this machine. it is relatively quiet, and does sew fast. This will be great for doing piecing for quilts. It isn't the quality of my Pfaff, which is all metal (the skin of this machine is plastic) and doesn't have a lot of fancy stitches, but it is a great value for what it does do and does execute well for all I've done so far. And perfect for a beginner sewer, or someone who only needs a machine once in awhile to hem pants or take care of odd little projects or someone like me who was going through withdrawal when her machine dies and is going to take some time to get fixed.

Side strap stitching pulled out on half of the strap within 1 week of use. Also the length of strap is way too long for a teenager. It far exceeds the length needed for a side/hip bag. Need to double-over the top of strap and pin it shorter to meet needs of length.

Nice fabric and color, but the sewing quality is poor!

Image my surprise when I went to the local mega hobby stores (2 of them) only to find that good old fashioned Plaster of Paris had been replaced with some Chinese made "kind of like" plaster of Paris stuff. This in good old made in USA Plaster of Paris, in a half gallon size mike carton. Weight is 4.4 pounds.

Happy as can be... 5 stars (made in USA pushed it over from 4!)

I absolutely love this machine! Sewing since I was young this is the first sewing machine I've owned that's more than basic (or super old!). The automatic bobbin feed and threader is the best invention ever! I have a lot of trouble threading needles because of tremor in my hands and bad eyes -this makes it SUPER easy. I do agree with some of the other reviews, it takes a few minutes to figure out how to use the automatic threader, but once you do it's amazing how quick and easy it is. My last sewing machine had trouble sewing through layers of thick duck cloth -this was able to zip right through with no problems whatsoever. I have only had the machine for a few days, and haven't explored all the options yet. I basically have only used it for basic sewing, but so far it is great. The foot control is very sensitive to the pressure you put on it, so you are able to sew as quickly or slowly as you want. My last machine would either not move at all or move at what felt like a million miles an hour :-) The manual so far has been very useful, it's detailed and has lots of diagrams. For the price, I feel like this machine is an awesome deal and would recommend it to anyone.

I have owned an OptiVisor for several years. Originally purchased for work, I bought a second pair for home and have used them for (to name a few) pulling splinters out of the kids fingers, assessment of a problem with my dog's paw, detailed gluing of small project work, removing and assessing a tick, replacing a watch battery and for making small, detailed measurements. My eyes aren't what they used to be--but with these... they're temporarily much, much better!

Others have reviewed the limited depth of field. This is true--you'll need to be close to the subject for it to be in focus. Please understand that this is not a fault of the manufacturer but is the way optics perform when designed to work in this fashion. In my opinion, this limitation makes these an unsuitable solution for reading unless you need extreme help and are willing to hold the material very close. I've tried. It's clumsy.

Two notes from my years of using this product. 1) There are "thumbturn" tighteners (small knobs visible in the picture) that keep the visor in position once you've adjusted it on your head. We tend to only tighten the one on the right because we are right handed. The left one became loose, fell off, and was lost for quite some time before we located it under the couch. Keep both of these finger-tight or you may lose one of them. 2) The optics can scratch if you store the visor improperly. We like the visor so much that we put a hook on the wall near the office desk--just an arm's reach away. Easy access. Safe storage.

These are ruggedly built, well-designed and have helped me to solve many problems. Therefore, they get my 5-star approval and recommendation.

I was looking for good quality parchment/cotton paper for a long time as well when i came across this brand. The quality of their product is great, but with major setback, at least for me: Everything from this company comes with watermarks on every page. Just to be clear, i am printing high quality advertising material on this paper, so when I buy paper of this grade the last thing i need is some advertisement being embedded by production company, which is visible. I gave it 2 stars just for the quality.

I have not been using this machine long, but I already love it. At first when I tried it I had trouble with the machine feeding itself the material. I was used to having to really guide the material along with my old machine. This machine does not like it if you try to push the material into it. All you have to do is put the material in and put the foot down and start to go. The machine does the rest. I am working on very delicate material and this machine just glides along with no problems.

Also hemmed up a pair of jeans with one the decorative stitches which was a blast. So far no problems with the machine. My husband commented first thing about how quiet it is.

I have a silhouette and found that it really depends on what kind of cardstock it is as to how well it cuts. at the beginning, i replaced the blade right away because it tore up the paper. then i realized Michael's recollections cardstock is the only kind of cardstock it cuts beautifully. i have been cutting with my current blade for almost a year. but am ready to replace now. give that cardstock a try. you will love it.
