This fabric is beautiful! I got this for my Dad to do a pillow but it is too nice for that. I am going to do a quilted wall hanging instead.

It has a silky feel and the colors are awesome. I just wish I could find this for the Navy.

Very very nice quilt block and definitely worth the money!

I thought it would be helpful to post a list of exactly the what the kit contains, since it isn't in the product description.

2 5mm tooth sliders; 1 single and 1 double pull

2 4.5mm coil sliders; 1 single and 1 double pull

2 5mm coil sliders; 1 single and 1 double pull

2 8mm coil sliders; 1 single and 1 double pull

2 Bottom stops

2 Top stops

When the slider on my riding jacket broke, I was very upset! The jacket was very expensive and in great condition, but totally useless without the zipper. I was able to fix my jacket in minutes. The instructions were easy to follow and very informative as to what can and cannot be fixed. I am so glad to have found this kit!

I've had a pair of these for a couple of years now and they are the best scissors I've ever used, bar none. I use them for everying from cutting fine tissue paper for crafts to cutting apart heavy cardboard boxes. Recently I needed to cut hard plastic tie wraps from a bundle of wires and could only get the tips of the scissors around the tie wraps, but these cut them without a problem. It was almost like having wire cutters. The handle is super comfortable, and it even comes with a tool for adjusting the tension of the blades (although I've never used it--these scissors preform today exactly as they did when they were new). They're pricier than other scissors, but in my opinion well worth it.

About this mannequin:

I have been looking at female mannequins to model winter coats for my online store . I thought all mannequins were made of fiberglass. This mannequin is made of durable plastic. She is like a huge plastic doll, but realistic enough that my dogs have not stopped barking at her since they have seen her. Her arms are just a tiny bit short and her hands do not look great. I ordered a blonde wig for her and she does look awesome with it on, but I think she would look even better with darker hair. Although she is very light to move around, she's stands sturdy and wears my coats well. I have heard that fiberglass mannequins may be somewhat more realistic, but plastic ones are lighter; won't break; and perfect for for those who need to photograph items for online selling. I am very satisfied with this mannequin.

About the company:

The item arrived in two days of ordering it, which was two days earlier than estimated. They packaged it well. I put it together in minutes. I have not seen a lot of plastic mannequins so I cannot comment on whether the price is fair. I have read that plastic mannequins are more expensive than fiberglass ones, but this price was either even or less than the fiberglass mannequins I have viewed. The item is exactly as it was described. I would definitely buy from this company again.

These punch heads fit the old ACCO Model 300 three hole paper punch. ACCO is no longer in business and replacement parts are hard to find. These punch heads are much sturdier than the originals and they work better.

That's correct, ladies, I'm a Harley rider who sews the consequence of living alone . . . sigh.

Notwithstanding my genius and dexterity, I must admit to creating hems that resemble the country roads on which I like to ride: curvy. Impelled by pride, I recently undertook to discover if some sort of guide was made for my machine (Singer) to assist in straightening out my path. At Amazon, I discovered the blind hem presser foot which seemed to me to serve a useful dual purpose: yes, create a blind hem for esthetic reasons but, more importantly, create a blind hem for the sewing impaired, your humble servant.

This item is a "snap-on" foot which, as noted in the product description, many machines accommodate or easily adapt to fit with a screw-on attachment to the presser bar. After creating an S-fold in the material at the hem, the foot is placed on the hem edge where the straight portion of the stitch will be located; the zigzag (blind) stitch is adjusted to just catch the fold. The presser foot has a very easy to adjust guide that is set to follow the fold.

I have to proceed rather slowly to ensure that the guide travels along the fold and yields a reasonably straight hem. Nevertheless, in those instances when I daydream myself off track, the spacing of the blind stitch is such that it is not readily noticeable a good thing since the curtains I am making for a window above my kitchen sink counter shows its hem rather conspicuously.

In spite of its modest cost, the presser foot is a hefty piece that appears well made. The guide is plastic but stout enough such that I do not anticipate breakage due to wear-and-tear or modest abuse.

In a word, I am quite happy with this gadget.

Ed

My niece was asking for "orange sunglasses with monkies on them" for her birthday and she just wouldn't let it go. Wouldn't you know the sweet little thing didn't realize how impossible it was to find what she wanted. These are red, not orange, but they suited her just fine! She wears them everywhere!

I got my presser foot very quickly and it was in good shape, however, no instructions were included in the package. Luckily it is not difficult to figure out, but still a picture or small note would have been great! Also, the package was a simple padded envelope. Very lucky that the presser foot was not damaged during shipping.

I bought this cutter after doing quite a bit of research, and it has so far exceeded my expectations. I'm a watercolor artist and I needed something that would cut 300# watercolor board, as well as some thinner papers I use for other projects. I had previously used Premier (the green ones) and some other commercial style cutters when I worked at a school, as well as several brands of rotary trimmers. I ended up deciding guillotine was better suited for use with the thick cotton rag boards I cut, and there is also the advantage of not needing to buy blades, as most guillotine trimmers are self sharpening. For this price, I did not expect to get something as heavy-duty as the commercial ones I'd used, but this one had good user reviews, and was more sturdily built than some others I'd researched here and elsewhere. I got the cutter and could not be more pleased. It is a lot more heavy-duty than I expected. It has a 15 sheet rating, but it slices like butter through 300 pound cotton rag watercolor board, which is very fibrous and hard to sever. I was interested to note that there is no actual blade on this cutter. The tension on the lever is used to create a scissor effect between the lever and the side of the board. The other guillotine trimmers I have used do have a sharp blade, but this one is squared off and the corner of the lever is used as a scissor blade. It's very effective. I don't get that jagged tearing sort of cut; it's very clean and sharp. I did some experimental trimming with standard paper, and it cut 1/32 inch without folding under. On a lot of guillotine trimmers, if you get a really close shave, it folds the paper rather than cutting it. This one cuts clean in very small increments. I have been used to holding the paper myself and not using the onboard paper holder, because most of the time, they didn't work that well on the trimmers I have previously used. You don't really have an option with this trimmer, unless you want to modify it, but I'm actually glad now, because the bar that holds the paper really does hold the paper very tightly. I can cut one-handed, even. The part of the paper holding arm that contacts the paper is a flexible rubber material, so it does not leave any marks on the paper itself (rag board is very susceptible to impression marks). I would have taken it off without having tried it if that had been an option, so I'm glad it wasn't. I'm still able to visually line up my cuts with it, and I use 1/32 measurement, so it's pretty precise. The board/blade relationship is square and I did measure it with an angle gauge (you can tell by now that I did, can't you? LOL). I noticed that another reviewer posted that the nut on the paper holding arm gets in the way of the blade. Well, I guess if you let it get completely unscrewed it might, but it's a good half inch away from the cutting arm when it's tight, so theirs must really have come loose! Nothing about the paper holding arm gets in the way of the blade on the trimmer I received. The base is not solid, but it is heavy enough that it didn't slide around on me when I used it on the counter. Light-weight plastic trimmers slide all over the place, but this one is solid enough to stay put, and it does have rubber feet, which probably helps. If you need more precise measurements than half inch, the surface does mark easily with a Sharpie, and doesn't rub off. I felt like I had good control with this trimmer once I got used to the paper holding arm. You do have to lift the blade completely, but that turns out not to be much of a concern once you get used to it. The backstop guide holds securely with a thumb screw, and photo paper did not slide under it. The thinnest I used was Epson Premium Presentation Paper (not Ultra, and not photo paper) which is nearly equivalent to a sheet of typing paper. If you make sure it's squared up, you can still cut a single piece of paper without it sliding under the backstop, but if you're careless on the top edge, the bottom corner of the paper could slide under the backstop. I'm not sure I described that well, but if you are snug on the top (ruler) edge, the backstop will work fine with a single sheet of typing paper. I saw that someone else has posted this cutter only cuts 16". That is NOT correct. The blade/arm is slightly over 18" long and it definitely does make 18" cuts. The ruler across the top of the trimmer board is only 15' long, and is marked to 14.5", so perhaps that was what the other reviewer meant. As far as the cutting length it's 18". Thought I'd better clear that up, because the picture does not let you see that the blade and ruler sides are two different lengths. To be clear, this trimmer DOES make 18" cuts. The blade/arm itself is 8mm (slightly over 1/4 inch) thick, so I don't anticipate any bowing of the arm itself. There is a heavy duty spring that maintains tension where the arm attaches to the board. There is a piece of heavy metal (I don't know what kind, but I assume it's the same as the arm) attached to the board which that acts as the other "blade" for the scissor-type function. That strip of metal is about two thirds as thick as the arm itself. Both surfaces seem like they will wear well over time, but that is just an opinion. Incidentally, I also used the top ruler to fold against, as it provides a good ledge to line up the ends of the paper. If you go to the Dahle website, this is actually the Vantage trimmer. It doesn't say so in this listing, but the box is labeled Vantage. On the whole, I'm very pleased and would definitely recommend this trimmer. Feel free to email me if you have any specific questions I have not answered here.

I love my cutterpede, and it always works well for me. The scoring blade makes a really clean looking score on all types of paper. The only drawback to using this scoring blade is that it's a bit of a hassle to change it out and then change back to the regular blade when making cards.

I really, really enjoy using this airbrush. I had trouble manipulating the controls on a Badger years ago, so I went to the simpler Aztec series. When my last Aztec broke, I decided to go back to the more sophisticated Iwata style airbrush .... I wish I had made the leap sooner.

After I overcame a bit of the learning curve in manipulating the needle control, I found I could paint very precise patterns with this airbrush. Additionally, even though I have a variable psi setting on the compressor, I found the ability to regulate air flow near the head of this brush perfect for fine tuning air pressure --especially as I'll normally use slightly different viscosity paints.

This brush is more expensive than most, but I still consider it an excellent value as it has allowed me to accomplish paint schemes with this airbrush that I couldn't previously achieve.

Westcott is a big name in scissors, and I've had good luck in the past with this brand, so I thought I'd be safe in ordering this inexpensive item. However, what I got was a nice looking but not very useful scissors that has trouble cutting almost anything I've thrown at it. Paper, plastic, other simple household items--should cut like butter. Maybe I got a lemon--not properly fitted--because it just doesn't bite into things the way you'd expect a 200-year-old technology to handle. Oh, well.

I bought this machine at Michael's (craft store) for use with Polymer Clay. The machine was very poorly made and broke on the second day of use! The "clamp" that helps hold it to the table did not fit properly so I had to borrow some of my husband's clamps so it wouldn't move around....but then, while using it, the dials (that gauge the thickness of the clay) completely broke.

I returned it and am going to get a nicer Atlas machine. Don't waste your time with this one....you'll only be disappointed and frustrated with it!
